Hard competition for midfielders
By Håvard Lindheim, 4 April 2004, 16:38

With Roar Strand and Frode Johnsen out with injuries, everything is open for Jan Gunnar Solli. Sunday he intends to perform so well that he secures a place in the midfield in the opening league match against Brann.

After not having played from start in the two Benfica matches, Jan Gunnar Solli plans to play the opening match in the league.

"The fight for a place in the midfield is definitely tough, and it will most likely stay that way all year. The only thing I can do to defend a position among the starting 11 is to impress each time I play. If I do so this weekend, I hope to play the opening league match against Brann," says Solli to rbkweb.com.

- How patient is Jan Gunnar Solli when it comes to playing minutes?

"I am still 22 years and am in no hurry, but it is clear that getting to play matches for Rosenborg is the key to my own development, and also for parttaking in the national squad, which I like very much."

The first chance to impress us you have on Sunday, Jan Gunnar!
