Vålerenga - Rosenborg 2-2
By Håvard Lindheim, 25 May 2004, 09:42

Harald Brattbakk was left out from start, but came in and gave one point as a birthday present to Rosenborg Ballklub, who turned 87 years that Wednesday.

Before the away match in Oslo, Brattbakk was left out for the first time since his comeback to Lerkendal in the 2001 season. At the score 1-1 twelve minutes before time, the goalgetter came in, but he and his team mates got a sudden blow when Jørgen Jalland managed to put a corner into the goal. Should this turn out to be the third loss in a row?

But then "Brattigol", who hadn't scored so far this year, struck. Frode Johnsen served the ball to Harald Brattbakk, who outrun Kjetil Rekdal and hammered the ball on "half bounce". The ball went like a projectile past the fingertips of Vålerenga goalkeeper Øyvind Bolthof and into the net - what a beauty!

"The goal was great, both for Harald himself and the rest of the team," Ola By Rise said to Norwegian broadcaster TV2.

But still we had to do with a single point at Ullevaal last night. The main cause is maybe the early leading goal for the hosts. After ten minutes, Jørgen Jalland opened the whole RBK defence with a simple pass to Daniel Fredheim Holm, who had moved clear of Vidar Riseth. Fredheim Holm, who before Christmas chose to stay in Oslo rather than move to Trondheim when he left his mother club Skeid, rounded an outcoming Espen Johnsen and elegantly made 1-0.

"Unforgivable to let in goals like that!" Ola By Rise stated.

Thankfully, Rosenborg recovered fast, and fought their way into the match. Before the break one managed to take over the gameplay, but the chances just didn't come.

After the rest, RBK finally started to create something, and the 56th minute saw 1-1. Fredrik Winsnes hit a corner from the left, that Azar Karadas managed to head down to Frode Johnsen's feet. His shot hit the crossbar and then into the net.

RBK continued to lead the gameplay, but towards the end, Vålerenga took some of the initiative and had some dangerous chances. In the end each team got another goal.

"I feel that we continue the progress from the Molde match, even though we didn't win today. If we manage to score the first goal soon as well, we'll have three points," Ola By Rise means.

PS 1! It has gone almost exactly a month since the last Rosenborg victory in the Tippeliga; 2-0 in the away match against Fredrikstad.

PS 2! Ståle Stensaas was sick and had to pass. Torjus Hansén took the left back.

PS 3! Roar Strand had to leave the pitch with a leg damage before half time.
