RBK and Sogndal agreed a week ago upon a transfer worth in total EUR 590.000 for the 24-year old. Sogndal receives EUR 350.000 in cash, and will get another 59.000 when Russell has played 25 and 50 games. In addition, Sogndal will get additionally 118.000 if RBK qualifies for Champions League in August.
Now the player himself has reached agreement with Rosenborg.
Robbie Russell arrived at Lerkendal on June 27th, where he passed the medical examination, and then signed the contract.
"I feel this to be a natural next step. Rosenborg is a much larger club than Sogndal - one of the biggest in Europe," Russell ascertains to Norwegian broadcaster TV2.
"We are well pleased with the deal we have done with Rosenborg. We have scanned the international marked, and see that the timing is right. And not least, the player himself has given strong signals that he wants a change of clubs. Furthermore, this opens for new investments," Sogndal Director Yngve Hallén says to Western Norway newspaper Firda.
From what rbkweb.com knows, Rosenborg will let the 24-year old finish the spring season in Sogndal. Hence, he will be ready for RBK after Sogndal's away match against Ham-Kam at July 4th.
It is already clear that Mikael Dorsin (Djurgården), Christer George (back from a loan to Spanish club Cordoba) and Per Ciljan Skjelbred (RBK junior) joins the A squad from July 1st.
