Lyn - Rosenborg 0-2
By Håvard Lindheim, 30 June 2004, 08:24

Finally a league victory on away grounds! Harald Brattbakk also cheered, as he now is on par with Odd Iversen on the All Time Topscorer list.

The match at Ullevaal was a top-of-the-league game. All the six top teams of the table lost their Sunday matches, so both RBK and Lyn could capture the second place with a victory.

RBK on their hand came to Oslo without having won on away grounds in the league since April 18th, against Fredrikstad. Lyn, tough, has a Rosenborg curse: Not since the days of legend Harald "Dutte" Berg (father of RBK's Ørjan and Bodø/Glimt's Runar) in 1968 has the westend boys won a mandatory game against RBK.

And luckily, it was Rosenborg's curse that was liftet at Ullevaal this Monday night.

Rosenborg went to the job with a very offensive attitude, but did not create much in the opening of the game. In the 26th minute, tough, the first goal came: Harald Brattbakk got a clever pass from Christer Basma, and tricked Lyn defender Steven Lüstu so he skid and fell, before hammering the ball into the net. Such came the 3rd goal of the season, and the 158th in the carreer, for the goalgetter - who then got on par with RBK legend Odd Iversen. Now, Brattbakk is only one score behind Petter Belsvik, who, after having played for seven different Norwegian top league clubs, leads the list.

2-0 came just before half time. Frode Johnsen headed a pass down to Roar Strand's feet, who placed the ball safely behind Lyn's keeper.

More goals did not come at the National team arena. After the break, Ola By Rise chose to do something very athypical: He let the team lay low and go for counter attacks. This, he explained, was to let the players practice how to defend a lead, something that can come in handy for the European cup matches this autumn.

"We controlled the game in a way that will be a platform for us in Europe. Playing well at away grounds was one of the top priorities," By Rise says to the Norwegian Telegram Bureau NTB.

The Rosenborg boss was also quite pleased that the other teams that tops the table, as Tromsø, Vålerenga, Brann and Ham-Kam, lost:

"A great round for us," he concluded.

PS! Vidar Riseth will have to suffer a quaranteen for the next game against Brann, due to the yellow card.
