"Good pre-test"
By Håvard Lindheim, 22 August 2004, 13:41

Ola By Rise does not rest on his laurels after the 3-0 victory against Tromsø; now, there is full focus on the Maccabi Haifa game in the Champions League qualifications.

"This was a good result for us, and we got no further injuries, so I feel that we are strong prior to Tuesday's match," Ola By Rise stated in the dressing room.

The RBK boss was well pleased with his own team, but also gave some praise to the opponent after Saturday's so-called league final.

Good opponent
"It is not by chance that Tromsø is in top of the table. Especially their attack is good," By Rise says.

But tonight, Rosenborg was the better team:

"We were good at challenging them with speed along the ground, and that created problems in Tromsø's defence. And at the same time, we stopped their attack. They had two great chances during the three first minutes of the match, but after that, they didn't create anything until we had 3-0," Ola By Rise states.

Israel next
As soon as Sunday, Rosenborg travels southeast to - hopefully - enter the group stages of the Champions League.

"Israel is outside Europe, and it is going to be a tiresome trip - five and a half hours in plane. But we'll manage," Ola says.

The Rosenborg coach firmly believes that the team will manage to qualify for Europe's finest competition.

Strong on away grounds
"Gradually we have acchieved a strong playing style on away games in Europe, and we have been good at finding the right positions and formations - the collective intelligence is good. At the same time, we are good at playing our own game. We can't just lay low, like the National team used to to," By Rise states.

With 2-1 from the home game, RBK has good chances of knocking out Maccabi Haifa.

"But we don't really let our future depend upon this. Whatever happens, we have many E-cup games to play this autumn," By Rise ends, having the EUFA Cup as a backup.
