Bodø/Glimt - Rosenborg 0-1
By Håvard Lindheim, 26 October 2004, 11:41
Frode Johnsen abused a penalty, and so Rosenborg failed to get ahead of Vålerenga on goal difference.
Eight minutes before time, substitute Daniel Braaten was awarded a cheap penalty. A Frode Johnsen, totally out of shape, strode forth. The penalty kick was weak, and Glimt goalkeeper Ole Arvid Langnes saved easily.
Now, we do hope that the Tippeliga 2004 is not settled with one goal in favour of Vålerenga ...
After having lost four of the five last league games, and having kicked the coach, a RBK on their knees had to stand up. This, they managed only to some degree, but luckily it was enough against a Bodø/Glimt threatened by relegation - and without a victory over RBK since 1979.
Rosenborg was the better team in the first half at Aspmyra, but a decent Roar Strand shot, one metre wide, was as close as they came. Bodø/Glimt were closer: Espen Johnsen whipped up a reflex save when Fredrik Kjølner shot from close range.
0-0 in Bodø at half time; the same score in Hamar. Just after kickoff for the second half, the sad news came: Morten Berre - of all - had given Vålerenga the lead against Ham-Kam. And that meant that Rosenborg needed a goal to take back the lead.
For a long time, things looked dark. RBK did not manage to get a firm grip, instead Bodø/Glimt were very close to scoring. RBK keeper Johnsen had to concede a rebound on a Christian Berg shot. How Stig Johansen missed on point blank we'll never know. Lucky Rosenborg!
Instead, Fredrik Winsnes could give the guests the leading goal. Glimt defender Kjølner cleared a throw from Robbie Russell straight out to Winsnes, who sent a low ball into the goal's far post. Great!
And so, RBK once again were equal with Vålerenga when it comes to points (45) and goal difference (+15), and also passed them on more scored goals.
As the game closed to an end, Frode Johnsen abused the penalty kick. Let us hope that it won't settle the league.
