Surgery necessary for Johnsen and Russell

Rosenborg medics have decided to perform knee surgery on both Frode Johnsen and Robbie Russell next week.
The two RBK players will be put under the knife almost immediately upon their return from London, in order to have their meniscuses fixed. During the October/November changeover, Christer Basma (groin), Vidar Riseth (achilles) and Ørjan Berg (knee) also underwent surgery.
“Five surgical operations in such a short time is a lot, but then again we have been postponing putting people on the operating table, in order to have them at end of season instead. Besides, knee surgery isn’t so invasive these days, due to new techniques for this kind of treatment. In total, we have fewer injuries than last year, but we have more players with long term injuries,” says Rosenborg physio Sigbjørn Hammer to local newspaper Adresseavisen.
All five players are expected to make full recovery before the start of season in January.
