From the end of the 2004 season in London and until now, the Rosenborg players have trained on their own. Now they are gathered again, and on Saturday they all travel to the Canary Islands.
IN PLACE: In 2004, legendary Nils Arne Eggen was mostly behind the scene, but ing 2005 he will be more visible.
On the 8th of January, the plane takes off from Trondheim Airport Værnes. A training camp at Gran Canary and participation in the Maspalomas Tournament with matches against Feyenoord and Sparta Praha mark the start of the 2005 season.
Joining the charter tour is Nils Arne Eggen. It was much ado when he was presented as part of the new coaching team at Lerkendal a couple of months ago, but he hasn't worked much with the players since his first training on November 9th.
That will chance in the new year.
"I shall be in place for both the Maspalomas trip in January, and to La Manga in February. During these weeks we shall make plans for the season," Nils Arne Eggen tells rosenborg.info.
Last year, Nils Arne Eggen mostly stayed behind the scenes, as some sort of "senior advisor" to use Ola By Rise's own name for it. This season he will be more visible.
"Bjørn (Hansen) and I are two experienced guys who will add our own experience. We will be co-responsible for the sporting issues, and will contribute during training sessions and soforth," the Rosenborg veteran says.
Many think it will be hard for Per Joar Hansen to keep the good Eggen at bay. The principal caracter denies this.
"Perry is the boss. He will be the main responsible for the team of coaches, where Rune Skarsfjord and Jørn Jamtfall are included as co- and keepercoaches," Nils Arne Eggen finishes.
rosenborg.info wishes all readers and Rosenborg supporters a happy new year!
