Bodø/Glimt - Rosenborg 0-1
By Håvard Lindheim, 19 April 2005, 19:24

Rosenborg had an extremely bad day at work, and only created two chances. This did anyway suffice to capture three points in Bodø.

RBK travelled north without Ørjan Berg and Bjørn Tore Kvarme, who both had inguinal problems after the FC Køpenhavn match, and used five players that didn't start against Aalesund last Sunday. All these voluntary and involuntary changes on the team might take some of the blame for the poor result.

The match at Aspmyra was, simply spoken, rotten, with lousy gameplay from both teams. Especially the second half was horrible, with mis-passes a-plenty and few chances.

Rosenborg's first chance came after twenty minutes. However, it gave immediate results: Jan Gunnar Solli snatched a rebound after a RBK corner kick, and fired off an overly optimistic shot from 25 metres. The shot was nowhere near optimal, but it did hit the head of Glimt's Olav Råstad, changed direction and entered the net at the nearest post.

"I got a good hit with my left leg, and it was fun to see the ball go in. Originally it was supposed to hit the opposide side, but a goal is a goal," Solli smiled to broadcaster Canal+ after the game.

That goal was, however, the only thing he could smile of that night. Frode Johnsen headed a ball into the post shortly thereafter, but after that, Bodø/Glimt dominated the rest of the half, and created five-six great chances. Jan Gunnar Solli caused two of these himself, by losing the ball on his way forward.

"In a period of the game, we lost the ball each and every time we went forward, and we never got out. The game was way too ambitious. This allowed Bodø/Glimt to outnumber us and counterattack," Per Joar Hansen said, mentioning without words that Solli has things to improve.

Luckily for RBK, the home team - and especially Trond Fredrik Ludvigsen - were ineffective that day, and shot above the goal - wide of the goal - and straight on Espen Johnsen.

The good Glimt offensive ended after the break, and second half can be described in one word - Boring! With the exception of a wee final run from the home team, the last 45 minutes held mistakes and bad performances from both teams.

But three points it was for Rosenborg and Per Joar Hansen, who in this manner gained his first league victory as the RBK coach.

"We had expected this to be a hard fight, partially due to the bad pitch, and partially because Glimt are very aggressive at home. This victory was one of hard work," Perry said.

Hence, the Rosenborg nightmare continues for Bodø/Glimt: they haven't won a single league game against RBK since 1979! The past 27 games have resulted in 24 RBK-wins and only three draws, the last one being in 1997.

PS! Miika Koppinen and Alexander Ødegaard both had their debut in the league in this match. Congratulations to both!
