The season is still young, but Rosenborg will have to start winning games or fall behind. Before the game, coach and players were very intent on fighting for three points tonight, but when the 11 chosen ones entered the field this seemed to be forgotten:
Apart from the ever fighting Roar Strand, the RBK players showed little guts and balls before half time, and Lillestrøm won almost every duel. Hence, it was far from unfair that the Canaries took the lead after fifteen minutes: Espen Johnsen miscalculates a free kick and boxes the ball down into Kasey Wehrman's feet, who could easily round Jan Gunnar Solli and shoot. Johnsen had a hand on the ball, but Pål Steffen Andresen placed it into the net by the far post.
Few minutes later, LSK sent another one in. But Michael Mifsud's score was annulled due to an offside. A very strange (or, alternatively, very wrong) decision, but definitely welcomed by RBK.
The last minutes before half time saw a somewhat better shaped RBK, and in this period they got their first chance: A Solli passer struck the crossbar via LSK keeper Heinz Müller's hands.
In the start of the second half, the match was more even, and RBK managed to make the home team look less dangerous. Lillestrøm were as ever hard in the duels - too hard at times, something that gave RBK quite a few free kicks up in the field.
After an hour, RBK managed to use one of these set pieces: Ståle Stensaas passed in from the right, and on the five meter line, Alexander Ødegaard came flying. With his forehead he struck the ball into the corner of the net - his first league goal for RBK.
For some time after this goal, RBK looked as if they would take the lead of the game, but soon they let LSK back in. Luckily, the yellow-clads didn't get closer to score than a few free kicks that Espen Johnsen had to stretch a bit for.
And in the end, 1-1. A point welcomed by RBK.
PS 1! Erik Hoftun is suspended for the Start match on Thursday after having received his third yellow card for the season.
PS 2! Vidar Riseth (achilles) and Ørjan Berg (elbow injury) both had to leave the field injured, and will not play for a while.
