MALMÖ (rbkweb.com): Tonight, Rosenborg were supposed to secure a place in the finals in the Royal League, and some fresh hundred thousands of Euros in price money. Malmö had nothing to play for. Still, the team from southern Sweden won.
Personal errors was to mark Rosenborg's evening. Ståle Stensaas was one of the sinners, by negating the offside on the 0-1 goal, and by skidding and falling on 2-1.
"Even small local teams would have scored on the chances that we give Malmö today. Sadly, this isn't the first time it happens this year. Some players do the same mistakes time and again, even tough we practice these situations over and over during the trainings sessions," a sighing Rune Skarsfjord told rbkweb.com.
RBK opened the game really bad, and it was deserved when Alfonso Alves gave Malmö the lead in the middle of the first half. After the break, the gameplay improved somewhat, and during the second half, Rosenborg controlled the Swedish masters.
Still it was to be a game of pursuit. Substitute Frode Johnsen made an equalizing goal, before Alfonso sent MFF into the lead again. Then, Johnsen made another, only to see MFF run off with goals from Markus Rosenberg and Marcus Pode.
Hence, the dream of a Royal League final is crushed for RBK. IFK Göteborg and FC Køpenhavn will fight for the title Scandinavia's Finest.
