Odd Grenland - Rosenborg 0-5
By Håvard Lindheim, 14 June 2005, 11:44

May 29th: The bottom-league team from Skien had no way of stopping Rosenborg, who showed promising gameplay. Harald Brattbakk was the man of the day when he, in extra time, put in his record goal number 160.

KING OF GOALS: H.M. Brattbakk - none better, none equal! Congratulations, Harald Martin!

The goalgetter from Kolstad got even with Petter Belsvik's 159 league goals when scoring against Brann on 5 July last year. Since that, the forward veteran hasn't scored in the league.

"I have waited for a long time. It has been many matches and many failed chances," Harald Brattbakk told broadcaster Canal+.

This night, he got five minutes of playing time. Into the extra time he was clipped down by Odd goalkeeper Erik Holtan. Brattbakk took the penalty shot himself, and scored safely.

"The shot wasn't very well placed, but Holtan went the other way. It was great to see it entering the goal," says the all-time top scorer.

A lot had happened before the 5-0 goal, tough. First half was full of chances, and both teams created difficulties in front of eachother's goals. Rosenborg was however clearly the better team, and got a great start: 1-0 came after five minutes when Torjus Hansén couldn't clear a long throw from his old back colleague Mikael Dorsin. Hansén simply fell down inside the 5 meter, and the ball rolled between his feet to an unmarked Frode Johnsen, who had no problems scoring.

2-0 came twenty minutes later, when Øyvind Storflor elegantly bent a free kick from 20 meters in by the far post. A good shot, but Erik Holtan should have saved.

Holtan got his revenge shortly thereafter: Odd's young right back Espen Ruud hooked Thorstein Helstad's legs, and RBK was awarded a penalty. Helstad decided to take the penalty himself, but that didn't go well: The low ball was well placed, but lacked power. Hence, Erik Holtan saved, relatively easy.

Helstad didn't hang down his head for a long time, tough, and continued creating chances. In the first half he had a header into the crossbar, and in the second half, things loosened with two fast scores. 3-0 came on a beautiful lob above Holtan after having been played free by a long pass from Miika Koppinen. 4-0 came when Christer Basma and Roar Strand used the remains of a bad corner kick and made a new pass into the field.

And then, on extra time, came 5-0, and it was no doubt that Rosenborg had earned three points. As a result, a black May ended in joy.

"This means much. Nothing can replace a victory in football, when it comes to faith and self confidence. The boys worked hard for this, and deserves this victory," Per Joar Hansen said after the game.
