Rosenborg - Ham-Kam 4-0
By Håvard Lindheim, 14 June 2005, 11:44
The green clads came to Lerkendal with no points and no goal scored on away grounds so far this season. Their statistics weren't improved this night, and the bottom-placed team was sent back to Hamar as dead meat.
Prior to this night's game, Bjørn Tore Kvarme (inguinal stretch), Vidar Riseth (achilles), Ørjan Berg (elbow) and Daniel Braaten (inguinal stretch) were all placed on the tribune. Roar Strand (inguinal stretch) had to give in during the warm-up, and just before the break a head duel ended in a broken nose for Miika Koppinen. In all, six injured players. Still, RBK had no problems in overrunning Ham-Kam.
"We got two fast goals, and that settled it," the man of the match, Per Ciljan Skjelbred, said after the game.
On Thursday the midfield talent turned 18, and tonight he got himself a nice present: Phenomenal play and his two first goals for Rosenborg. This was a great revenge for Skjelbred, who felt bad after having been sent off in the home match against Molde. Congratulations, Per!
The night's game was stopped after one half minute, when Ham-Kam's two central defenders, Glenn Ståhl and Joachim Sørum, had a nasty collition in a head duel. Both had to be carried off. After five minutes the game restarted, and RBK used only a half minute to score: Øyvind Storflor and Mikael Dorsin combined on the left, and the latter was able to make a good pass in front of the goal. There, Per Ciljan Skjelbred came on a veritable "Strand run" and struck the ball into the net. His very first goal in the RBK shirt was a fact!
Goal number two came after 13 minutes, and was signed Erik Hoftun, who was back on the team as Riseth was out. RBK kept the ball after a corner from the right, and Dorsin could note his second assist for the day when he served the ball to Hoftun on the far post. The former captain headed it nicely into the goal.
"On the player meeting we decided to go out there like eleven oxes, and during the first half hour we completely outplayed them. Of course it was a pity for Ham-Kam that two of their main defenders got hurt, but so be it," Perry says.
Fifteen minutes into second half, Per Ciljan Skjelbred got his second: A header from Frode Johnsen was blocked, and the ever-awake Skjelbred threw himself forward and toed the ball past an outcoming Ham-Kam keeper Eddie Gustafsson. Two goals in one match is not bad at all by a midfielder in his third match from the start!
Then, it was time for a well set up Harald Brattbakk show. To the tones of "Congratulations", and a tifo celebration by Kjernen, the top scorer was sent on. Seconds later he was played through. The veteran forward made no mistakes alone with keeper Gustafsson, and goal number 161 was a fact.
In all, Rosenborg created 18-19 big chances during the match, and there was never any doubt as to where the points would end up.
PS! Robbie Russell played his first league match for the season.
