After just having played one match for the U21 national team Per Ciljan Skjelbred has been promoted to the regular national team. Rosenborg's midfield talent will be a part of the squad that is going to play the USA and Mexico this January.
"I am not done with exchanging the oldest players with younger alternatives yet. I will be looking for players to improve all positions. Per Ciljan Skjelbred is perhaps the most interesting one. He will come with us to the USA if he has got a current passport," Åge Hareide, Norway's national coach, told Nettavisen.
In the end of January the national team will go to California, where they will play friendly matches against Mexico and the USA Wednesday the 25. and Sunday the 29., respectively.
Hareide is going to use players that are not busy playing league games, and already at this moment we know that "Little-Per" will be in the squad and most probably get to make his debut.
"The players who are going to participate will get to know on the twentieth of December. They must be prepared and should not eat too much Christmas food," Hareide warned.
