The situation arose when the Russian supporters celebrated Andrei Arshavin's 0-1 goal: A dozen of bengal fires were lit, and many of these ended up on the pitch. The referee could do nothing but stop the match until the smoke had dispersed. In the meantime, the police and security men went up to grab hold of several of the Zenit supporters.
Until recently, RBK - as the arranging club - would have been harsly penalized by the UEFA, but the new orders from the top is to fine the club which the trouble makers represent.
"Zenit will be given the fines. Just as Olympiakos did when their supporters did something illegal," Marketing Manager Endre Storholt tells local Trondheim newspaper Adresseavisa.
