Rosenborg - Molde 0-1
By Endre Bakken, 1 May 2006, 00:12

Referee Tom Henning Øvrebø was in the spotlight when RBK lost their first game of 2006.

In the ninetythird minute of the game Christer Basma was fouled from behind by Thomas Mork close to Molde's goal. Instead of giving the home team a penalty kick, the referee chose to give a yellow card to the left back. Then the players, the substitutes, coaches and the crowd exploded with fury. The players argued with each other and the judge, while spectators threw red Coca cola balls onto the pitch. The game ended seven minutes into extra time.

"I think I should have been given a penalty kick. I'm about to pass him and then he touches me and I fall. It might not be the world's worst foul, but we should have gotten a penalty kick. It is unbelievable that I got a yellow card instead," a disappointed Basma told rosenborg.info.

The only goal in the game came after a penalty shot. Mikael Dorsin fouled Rob Friend and Petter Rudi easily scored in the twelfth minute.

The rest of the first half was rather uninteresting. RBK and Jan Gunnar Solli especially struggled with not getting their passes right and few goal scoring chances were created. An attempt at "God's hand" by Steffen Iversen was the closest the home team got to a goal. Luckily, for the sake of morale, the RBK attacker's attempt at boxing was saved by Rudi.

The game got alot better after the half time. Both teams created many goal scoring chances, but Rosenborg created the most. Lack of skill and excellent play from Molde's goalie Jan-Kjell Larsen prevented RBK from scoring.

Iversen was the one who wasted the most chances, while Mikael Dorsin was the one who got closest to creating a goal when he hit the bar after recieving a pass from Iversen.

"We were lacking precision in both our offensive and defensive play, so I find it strange that no more goals were scored," Knut Tørum concluded.
