Rosenborg - Odd 1-1

Things are not going well for RBK. Despite playing a lot better than Odd they did not get three points.
ALMOST: The closest RBK got to a winning goal: Johnsen heads a cornerball, which Tommy Svindal Larsen (nr. 7) saves on the line.

Like so often before Rosenborg lacked the neccessary precision in their passing play and shots on goal. Jan Gunnar Solli struggled with passing the ball fast enough, while the attackers struggled with getting the ball in the net.
RBK did, as expected, dominate the game from the beginning, and had several great chances in the opening minutes. Among other things, Steffen Iversen chose to pass the ball to Thorstein Helstad when goalkeeper Rune Jarstein was helplessly behind. Additionally Tommy Svindal Larsen used his hand to stop a shot from Øyvind Storflor.
Instead Odd scored on a something which shouldn't have been a proper goal scoring chance. Olof Hvidén-Watson, who tried out for RBK in 2002, shot a free kick from a point close to RBK's substitutes bench. The ball went in a arch before hitting the five meter mark and then the upper corner of the goal. Lars Hirschfeld got a hand on the ball, and should have been able to save it.
After the goal Odd started playing defensively, something which created problems for Rosenborg. The ball moved to slowly, and the precision was lacking. Luckily RBK got a penalty kick; Frode Johnsen was torn down by Trond Viggo Toresen. Steffen Iversen scored without problems from the eleven meter mark. He also had several other chances, but was not skillful enough.
Odd resisted, and are still without losses this year. For RBK this was the fifth game where they have gotten one point in eight tries. The distance to league leaders Lillestrøm seems far...
"We start well, but still get a goal against early in the game. But we keep on playing and produce many chances. After the half time we become a bit unprecise and our play is lacking immagination, but we make some substitutes which gives us more chances and should have scored the needed goal. We were a bit unlucky," Per-Mathias Høgmo thought.
