The 17 year-old from the Ivory Coast has just finished the first month of his three month trial, but already the management at Lerkendal have decided to offer the talente youngster a contract.
"We're impressed by what he's shown so far. In relation to his age, he is very skilled. You can tell there's a lot of potential in him," Knut Tørum boasts to Rosenborg Web.
"Abdoul" has a good left foot and can cover the whole left side - back, midfield and winger. The youngster was only playing unorganized football back in his hometown Abidjan until Raja Casablanca picked him up two years ago. There he was lodged with Yssouf Kone, and now the two Ivorians are sharing a flat again. Since Rosenborg showed an interest in him in the spring, he elected not to extend his contract with his Moroccan club and instead tried his luck in Trondheim.
As it turns out, this was a wise choice. On the other hand, FIFA’s rules don't permit clubs to sign non-EEA players under the age of 18. With that Rosenborg can't offer him a contract until he comes of age in late December. In the meantime he is staying on a tourist visa.
"Abdoul is visiting with us. Over the autumn we'll see how we can figure this out. We hope he has a future here at Lerkendal," Tørum concludes.
