Fighting for the colours

Lerkendal stadium is a mess of colours. Now, the RBK supporter group Kjernen wants to take action, both economically and physically.
It caused some turmoil when the three new tribunes were clad with yellow wallboards in Autumn 2001. Rosenborg defended the unusual choice of colours, saying it was a wish from the architect, who felt that the club's colours black and white "would have caused visitors to feel sad and down."
"Our proud stronghold looks more like the home field of Moss than that of Rosenborg," Kjernen leader John Inge Korsgat feels.
The architect had more luck with the colours on the seat rows, but five years later, the old, red seats on the Adidas tribune are still not replaced as planned. Lerkendal Stadium AS feels that it is too expensive.
"In all it is a cost of €360-600.000, depending upon chair types. I just have to say sorry - there is no money in the company for this. This company has a high level of debt, and little cash, and we have to make very strict priorities. This year's budget lacks €850.000 to get in balance, and then it should be self-evident," manager Arne Lorentsen tells rosenborg.info.
As a result, Kjernen now wants to aid in the task of removing the red and yellow elements.
"We have no interest in watching red seats for many years. We would like to start a fund raising project to get the chairs replaced as soon as possible," Korsgat says.
