Høgmo's situation still unclear
By Håvard Lindheim, 7 September 2006, 11:37

Originally, Per-Mathias Høgmo is supposed to be back in time to the home game against Lyn on October 1st, but nothing is certain.

"Our focus is that Høgmo is ill, and that he has to recover. He has been gone for the past few weeks, but has now returned to Trondheim. But still, we don't want to discuss the future with him until he feels ready," Rosenborg president Terje Svendsen says.

He does not rule out the possibility that Høgmo's sick leave might be prolonged.

"It is hard to predict a fixed date for getting well when you're suffering from mental exhaustion. RBK have to act like a responsible employer, and solve any and all problems together with Høgmo," Svendsen says.

In the mean time, preliminary coach Knut Tørum and his assistant Trond Henriksen have led the team to five wins in a row.

"Knut and Trond have stepped in and solved the task in an excellent manner," the president praises.

The players are satisfied as well:

"I feel that things have gotten clearer now, both in the training sessions and during matches. We have taken out the blackboard again, and made our way of playing more visualised. Some of us elders have had it all in our heads, but we have begun to draw things up again; which is good considering the number of new younger players," Christer Basma says.

With regards to this, it has been a strong focus on rehearsing and re-rehearsing through training sessions.

"The younger ones are not always good at observing and understanding the collective part of the game, and to see that they must cooperate in a certain way all the time. We have to think in the same way, everyone, and this is a good start," Basma thinks.

Svendsen points out that the current coaching staff haven't been running things completely their own way since the boss got ill.

"Høgmo was a part of evaluating the spring season, a process which is a building stone for the changes that have been done," Terje Svendsen ends.
