The winning goal came a whooping five minutes into injury time: Marek Sapara fired off a hard shot from 25 meters. Sead Ramovic did a great save, but on the rebound Iversen came, and ran the ball in with his stomack.
"Steffen won the match for us again today, and it was a phenomenal feeling!", Knut Tørum radiated - in competition with the 20 000 spectators who exploded in joy after the goal.
The relegation-threatened guests from the north tried to fight for the points, something especially Daniel Braaten experienced. Time and again the ball-sure RBK winger was cut down. All whistle blows went to Tromsø. The frustration among the RBK players weren't lessened when Sigurd Rushfeldt scored with a well-placed header just before half time.
"We ended up one down, and had to hunt throughout the second half. We got high speed on the ball and our feet, and presented ourselves as the home team we want to be. That settles the game in our favour today," Tørum felt.
Especially Sapara was great. He showed himself as being a good server - as appointed - , and was second-last on many shots. Unfortunately both Braaten and Øyvind Storflor abused some great serves.
Luckily, Iversen was more effective. With half an hour to go, he thrusted forward and steered in a failed Sapara shot.
And then, the hunt for the winning goal started. Tromsø on their hand were pleased with one point, and did what they could to let time pass. Not since the ridiculous UEFA cup game against Benfica in 2004 have the opponent's players spent more time lying down on the grass.
"Tromsø fought with all they had to keep their point. Many weird things happened, and the game play was slowed, slowed, slowed. Those six minutes was the least possible injury time that could have been had," Tørum stated.
Five minutes into the injury time the 2-1 goal came, signed Iversen. And as a result, Rosenborg climed onto the top of the table, two points ahead of Brann.
"Our goal is naturally gold, but we shouldn't be thinking about that too much. We must concentrate upon the next game, and after that, the next game again," the match winner said calmly.
PS! This match was to be played on Sunday the 17th of September, but was postphoned due to illnesses in Tromsø.
