HamKam - Rosenborg 1-1
By Håvard Lindheim, 17 October 2006, 09:40
You get it from your own: ex-RBK goalkeeper Ivar Rønningen stopped almost all of Rosenborg's shots. Hence, the celebration of the gold is postphoned for at least a week.
With three points this evening, Rosenborg would have had the chance to celebrate the championship coming Sunday, but instead we can hope for a party at Lerkendal in two weeks.
"With a win we would have had a good margin on Brann; now, it will be closer. But nevertheless we'll lead the league when we return from Bergen," Knut Tørum told Norwegian broadcaster TV2, hinting to the fact that Rosenborg has a goal difference of +18 versus Brann's +9.
As expected, the match at Briskeby was even and hard.
"We got a fierce fight when the main point was getting first to the ball in the decisive duels within both 16s. A lot of setpiece situations, and they kick the ball long, high and hard," the RBK coach stated.
Still, Rosenborg had great counter attacks, and Steffen Iversen, Miika Koppinen and Roar Strand all had fine tries in the first half. Unfortunately Ivar Rønningen had a phenomenal day between the posts.
Instead, HamKam got the upper hand - on the second of two penalty situations. First Bjørn Tore Kvarme fell, before Roman Kienast feinted off Koppinen and shot into Mikael Dorsin's arm - who tried to turn away. Referee Brage Sandmoen didn't see the hands.
A penalty kick was however given two minutes later when Christer Basma clumsily ran down Markus Ringberg from behind. Kienast scored.
And so, Rosenborg had to start hunting for an equalizing goal.
"We decided to go out and get them higher in the field, and at the same time get around on the wings. During the second half, we succeeded and got more precise in this plan," Trond Henriksen said.
Still, the half started with two nice chances for the home team, but then, finally, Rosenborg got paid. Substitute Alexander Tettey chipped the ball over to Steffen Iversen, who played Jan Gunnar Solli out right.
"It was a fine pass by Steffen, and luckily, I managed to trick it in behind Ivar. I hit well, and it was great to see it entering the net," Solli said.
Relegation-threathened HamKam had much possession for the remains of the game, but RBK were good at starting attacks fast from behind. That gave great chances for both Michael Jamtfall, Per Ciljan Skjelbred and Øyvind Storflor, but again Rønningen was there - saving the first two shots; while Storflor hit the outside of the post.
"We could have won today, had we been a tad more effective. The biggest chances were ours, and I am somewhat disappointed about not going home with a victory," Knut Tørum ended, after the wins-in-a-row record stopped on eight.
PS 1! A nauseated Kvarme was sick at the line, and was replaced at half time.
PS 2! Vidar Riseth was suspented for his fifth yellow card.
