Gravel at Lerkendal

Rosenborg have opted to remove all the grass from Lerkendal stadium and replace it with green-coloured gravel.
Not much grass under the feet of Koppinen and Gashi last week. From now, it'll be just gravel.

The grass just couldn't handle all the rain in October, and before the Brann match last week, sand was strewn on to dry it out. It wasn't a great success, and more dramatic steps have been taken.
"We have cut off the top layer of the pitch to remove the dirt. In front of the home match against Helsingborg we'll add more sand and gravel. This will be the new top layer of the pitch, together with the sewn-in artificial grass that still remains," director Arne Lorentsen of Lerkendal Stadium tells.
But as the artificial grass from 1994 only covers 4 percent of the pitch, it will be mainly a gravel field for Rosenborg to play on.
"New grass will be sown when the season ends on December 10th, but it will of course not grow until April," Lorentsen ends.
