Göteborg returns Lago - will he stay?

Alejandro Lago didn't become a success in IFK Göteborg. Hence, his football future is again unclear.
While fellow countryman Sebastian Eguren has played well enough to get a permanent contract with Hammarby, Lago didn't do as well in spite of playing 12 matches and scoring two goals in the Allsvenskan. His performance steadily dropped as the autumn went on, and when coach Arne Erlandsen got fired, Lago ended up warming the bench.
"IFK will not buy Lago out. Now, we and his agent will try to find him another club," Sports Director Rune Bratseth confirms to rosenborg.info.
The routined central defender was originally brought to Lerkendal last summer, but never managed to secure a regular place on the team. First, therefore, he was loaned out to Uruguayan side Bella Vista, before travelling on to Sweden. He do however have a contract with Rosenborg until the 2008 season.
"Another option is that he returns to us and joins us for the Gran Canaria training camp in January. But we hope to find another solution before christmas," Bratseth ends.
Tørum wants to take a closer look Local Trondheim newspaper Adresseavisen later reports that coach Knut Tørum wants to take a closer look on Lago. "I know him reasonably well already, and if he wants to fight for a place on the team, it might happen. If he ends up staying, I'm comfortable with that," Tørum says to the newspaper.
