Things have not been going well in the domestic league, but in the Champions League RBK showed their strength.
LONDON (rosenborg.info): Miika Koppinen shot Rosenborg into the lead after 24 minutes, when he resisted John Terry and got his toe on a dazzling free kick from Marek Sapara.
"The ball was perfectly timed, and therefore I got a foot on it. I almost didn't see it going in," Koppinen said with a smile.
After the goal Chelsea were eager to get an equalizer, but the home team struggled before half time. Nonetheless, Andrei Shevchenko headed in a goal after 52 minutes.
A period where RBK created many good chances followed, with Yssouf Kone being very involved.
"We got the game into the track we wanted, but it was hard since our team was so far back on the pitch and Chelsea therefore got to play the way they did. We kept them at a distance the first seventy minutes. The last 20 minutes only an heroic effort helped us get a point," Knut Trum said.
Chelsea never got closer to a winning goal than two shots in the goalpost. Therefore RBK got a great start on this year's Champions League.
