"Getting started in this manner was a relief. Especially since the last period has been so turbulent. All of us that are responsible for producing results needed this victory," Henriksen concluded.
The last game at home in this year's league became a mere formality against Lyn, who only has one victory in thirteen away games.
"We were better than Lyn on every place on the pitch. We passed the ball around making them chase it. It helped tire them out," Vidar Riseth said.
Yssouf Kone started the show by heading a crossball from Marek Sapara into the net.
Roar Strand was awarded "Player of the year" by "Kjernen", and thanked them by scoring right in front of their stand: Abdou Traore sent a clever cross that went past the Lyn defense and hit Strand, who easily sent the ball into the corner of the goal. Captain Strand then had to leave the pitch due to a shin injury.
The second half became something of an anti-climax; Rosenborg layed low and controlled the game against a worthless Lyn - the Oslo team did not create one chance during the whole game!
The other end of the pitch was almost as lacking in action. Lyn goalie Eddie Gustafsson almost boxed a corner into his own goal and substitute Fredrik Stoor's long shot hit the cross bar. Nothing else happened until the ninetieth minute when the score became 3-0. Traore dribbled his way past the defense and sent the ball to Marek Sapara, who easily scored.
Since both Troms and Fredrikstad lost points, RBK will be able to secure the fifth place and the possibility to play in the Intertoto all by themselves next week.
PS! This year's average of attendants was 19 903 - a new record for the sixth season in a row.
