Born: 29 April 1959 in Mo i Rana

Playing career: Mo, Vlerengen, Rosenborg and Bod/Glimt.

Coaching career: Bod/Glimt, Rosenborg, Gent, Club Brugge, Olympiakos and Gent.
The 48-year-old visited Trondheim this weekend, and the talks were positive. RBK now want to begin negotiations with his current club Gent of Belgium.

"My situation is clear: I have a contract with Gent. Shall I break it, I have to be bought out, and everything is possible in football," Sollied tells newspaper Nordlys.

Sollied led Rosenborg to the league championship in 1998 as interim coach for Nils Arne Eggen. He was regarded as the perfect successor for the legendary boss, but he was not interested in being degraded to assistant for several years and left for Belgium.

His services have been wanted several times later on, but the timing has never been good - until now. Both Rosenborg and Sollied are optimistic in finding a solution.

"He got what it takes. This is a great challenge, but he has already been here for 8 years as player and coach, and knows what this is about," Rosenborg's director of sports Knut Torbjrn Eggen says.

Sollied's greatest achievement so far is his Greek double with Olympiakos in 2005/06. UEFA's magazine "Champions" then nominated him as one of the top ten European coaches.
