Mabizela on Rosenborg trial

RBK turned the player down before he even started his trial.

Instead Mabizela now has signed a 2,5 years contract with Vålerenga:

"I have come to a club with big ambitions. They want to fight in the top of Norwegian football, and they want to qualify for international tournaments. I have a very good impression of the club, which is very professionally run. I hope I can help the club getting even better", Mabizela says.

"In the moment he is pretty "untrained", and he wouldn't have been given a contract based on his performances in the [pre-season] friendly matches[against IFK Göteborg and Hønefoss]. But we can see that he has much football inside him. It can't be denied that it is his CV which make us signing him. He has a big potential, something we would like to release," Vaalerenga's director of sports, Lars Bohinen, says.

There are some clauses in the contract, giving both club and player the possibility of cancelling the contract between every season.

"It might happen that the player will have problems adapting. Disciplinary matters might also happen, and he might not perform [on the pitch] as we think he will," Bohinen says.

"We probably will have to wait 2-3 months until he is in top shape. It is important that the coaches, players and supporters are patient with him, so he gets enough time to get fit and adapt to our way of playing," Bohinen adds.

"He will now travel back to South Africa and wait there until he gets his Norwegian working permit [a formality - not as strict as in e.g. Great Britain]. There he will be training hard, 10 times a week, after being given a work out program from our medical staff."

Hello and welcome after quite a long break... icon_smile.gif

I'm writing because in Polish media the topic of Cantoro's transfer to Rosenborg has come back...

I wonder if you have heard any fresh news about it...

Yeah, this is the one, I think..http://www.fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/050418/7/3idl.html

If this happends, I don't think that Rosenborg will be less interrested in him, since he then will go around the foreign player-rule, wich will allow Rosenborg to get another south-american player in the team if the sucseed in finding one after Bjørn Hansens scouting down there.

But, this is only my personal opinion..

Just like you've mentioned...these are only speculation so far, but as we all know there is always a piece of truth even in speculations or gossips... icon_wink.gif

Moreover, it's true that there was a discussion about giving Mauro Polish citizenship, but it has stopped recently...

So, if any news appear please don't forget to inform us... icon_smile.gif

RBK sign Uruguay stars

Rosenborg's scouting in South Africa pays off: Eduardo Lago (26) and Sebastián Eguren (24), both on the Uruguayan national team, are both set to sign for RBK.

"We are very satisfied. These are players at a level so high that there really should be impossible to bring them to Norway," Rosenborg director of sports, Rune Bratseth says.

These are completely new names for me. Anyone who can tell me more about them?

Robbie Russell might leave RBK:

"There's a rule in Norwegian football where only two non-EU players can be in a match squad for a game, and with Rosenborg's two new purchases it looks really difficult with me just having recovered from an injury," concluded Russell.

"I think that in order to get match fit, I need to be playing first team somewhere, and if that means being loaned out, then that's OK," he says.

Rosenborg are interested in Esbjerg striker Fredrik Berglund, and watched the Swede last week.

Read more: RBK examines Berglund

Esbjerg have at the same time signed striker Njogu Demba-Nyrén from Panathinaikos. This can mean they are willing to sell the Berglund priced at €1,3m.

Also Hamburger SV are interested in the player.

Rosenborg confirm that Mallorca have made an official approach for Frode Johnsen. The bid was however rejected.

"The bid they made was ridiculous low. It was so low that I did not see any reason talking to Frode about it," Rosenborg's director of sports, Rune Bratseth, says.

Yesterday a new there came a new bid from Mallorca. This time it is €600,000, MallorcaDiario claims. (Babelfish translation).

Rosenborg think this is not enough, but the newspaper nevertheless claims Johnsen will sign for Mallorca within hours...

Let's hope the newspaper - for once - is right. I choose to believe only the newspaper, and not the official statements from RBK.
