Welcome to the forum, iauk!
Any Icelandic players Rosenborg should consider? I see that a totally unknown player for me, Hördur Sveinsson, scored twiced when you beated Sweden 4-1 today (U-21). Is he any good? |

hordur sveinsson plays for Keflavik, in 2005 he scored 9 league goals and was leagues 3rd top scorer behind Tryggvi Gudmundsson (ex Tromso) and Allan Borgvardt (now Viking FK) |

Every time i've seen Icelandic football it looks great, very intimate atmospheres between the fans and the pitch. And offcourse Iceland produces some excellent defensive players particularly!
I want to visit the country as soon as i can in summer, looks amazing. |

I watched games at Akranesvollur (the view from my flat overlooked the stadium) and Laugardalsvollur, I stopped at the stadiums of FH, Breidablik, Fylkir, Keflavik, Reynir, the indoor halls at Egilshollin, Akraneshollin and Reykjaneshollin.
Most of the stadiums have a small stand on one side with a grass bank on the opposite side, behind the goals are just advertising boards.
I think Akranesvollur was the best ground i visited (not including Laugardalsvollur - the national stadium)

Akranesvollur is beautiful with that pitch right at the shore. Of course the cold sea wind can make it unpleasant outside summer season It is very known amongst stadium fanatics (like me) because after each game they tend to send a small boat onto sea to fish out balls from the water surface (the stand is right next to the surf so it is not hard to kick the ball into the sea)
Also, Vestmannaeyjar's ground is right by a fjord and the stadium of northern team Leiftur (the northernmost team in the Icelandic football) is next to a fjord as well. Iceland is a beautiful place for groundhopping if you care about surroundings just as much as about stadiums and stands. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

the stand at Akranesvollur has now been extended since my visit in May. if you look at the photo there is now an extra section of IA at each end
Good win for IA last night. 2-0 down away to Fram after an hour, ended up winning 4-2 |

Enjoy your trip! I am really jealous By the way, how do you collect enough money for those trips? I wish I had some spare money so that I could attend games all over Europe Low budget airlines usually don't fly to Iceland so it must cost you a lot to do those trips? _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

my first visit to Akranes last May was paid for by the club as a thankyou for my website www.freewebs.com/iauk they paid for my flight and arranged a flat for the weekend.
this time i pay myself £200 for flights and now i have to find a hotel (no hotels in Akranes ) so i will probably stay in Reykjavik |

The club paid your accomodation and flights? Wow, that's nice. Would they do that as well if I'd build a fansite? _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!
