Rosenborg and IFK Göteborg have supposedly come to an agreement regarding Alejandro Lago.

Lago and Eguren leaving would be good for RBK IMO, they are foreign players that aren't good enough. I think RBK should only bring in foreign players if they're better than what they already have.

I think we all agree on that. The reason why Rosenborg the last years have begun looking abroad, is not mainly because the lack of skills among domestic, Norwegian players. Instead the reason is that our rivals have strengthen their economy, and no longer have to accept attractive bids (from Rosenborg) on their players.

Good point and offcourse no Champions League this year won't help RBK finances.

Why is Lago still at RBK?

I would rather have kept Hyka to be honest.

Lago's agent was trying to find a new club for him before christmas, with no success.

Personally I thought it was more likely that Rosenborg would release him than bring him back, but a termination of his contract would probably be quite expensive for us.

The coaches are positive minded to give Lago a second chance (which Høgmo never wanted to give), and we just have to see what will happen.

PS! As written in the article, it was very unclear whether Hyka would have been able to extend his working permit in Norway.

The max 3 non EU players rule will be removed 15 January. Instead the clubs have to have 14 home-grown players in the 25 man big first team squad.

Since Lago no longer has to compete with Kone, Traore and Konan Rosenborg are considering bringing him back.

Initially he was sent home to Uruguay for good in early November, but he still has contract until 31/12/08.

Lago return is confirmed

We are in serious need of defenders, so I think this is a wise decision.

He can end up in Peru:

Lago is also an option for a club in Chile.

Seems like the coach has accepted not to see Lago in action before signing him:

With these two players is closed signings theme Crystal. On January 4th season begins with the clinical examinations in the Andes. Then start to work on January 6 in Florida. That will work for three days, then move to the city of Arequipa where they will be for 10 days and then return to Lima to get into the Club Remanso and kept there for about a week.
