So the qualifiers start within a week. Norway did an excellent warm-up, again not losing to Brazil (one of the only countries never to lose against Brazil !): 1-1 draw in Oslo can be seen a good result I'd say Tommel'n opp!

Greece and Turkey should be tough opposition, but Greece seems to be a one-hit-wonder, while Turkey cannot play at home and is seriously handicapped. I think it looks really good for Norway!

So, do you think Norway will qualify? If not, please specify who you think will qualify.

@ moderators: maybe we can have a little poll?

I have full confidence that Norway will qualify. This draw is the best possible one, with the only really tough oppisition not playing any home games. Turkey should be overcome with that. Greece is over their top and should be no match for Norway, and the other teams in the group will not even come close to qualifying. Maybe I'm overconfident (let's hope not) but I think Norway is going to win this group Cool

Actually, Norway is the only team that has not lost a game against Brazil. Except those who haven't played against Brazil of course.

A lucky draw, though. Against Brazils second and third best players. Nothing to celebrate or brag about really.

I know, but still... Many teams would still lose even if Brazil fields its C team instead of A team.

Norway has, apart from Turkey, no really tough opposition in its qualifying group. And Turkey cannot play any home games, so that's a serious handicap for them. I'd say Norway are favourites to win the group, there was no better draw possible anyway. With less luck England, Spain, Holland or Italy were drawn as opposition -- now it's Greece and Turkey and a few easy ones: this draw is simply excellent.

I'd love to see Norway winning the group. I've been supporting Norway for over 10 years ever since I first saw them in 1994 at the World Cup (I support Norway rather than my country of birth). They've been away from the big tournaments too long, but this is the unique opportunity to get back on the major scene.

When all goes normal Norway should win this one. Apart from Turkey I don't see any team finishing above Norway really, but with Turkey not playing at home I'd say Norway are the nr 1 favourites to win the group. The selection looks good! Lot of excellent strikers especially, what a luxury!

I have got my ticket for Northern Ireland - Iceland! 40 pound sterling, I never paid that much before for a game... All regular tickets are going to Northern Ireland fanclubs, so it was sold out, and I had to buy a business-class ticket as it was the only category not sold out. But Iceland has fascinated me so much for such a long time (both country and football team, I've been obsessed with both of time for many years) that I happily pay the 40Ł.

And the good thing is: the game kicks off at 3.00pm British time, so that means it is over by the time Norway kicks off, so I can see Iceland live and watch Norway on internet-television.

Come on the Nordics !! Tommel'n opp!

Excellent start!! What a way to open the campaign: 4 goals in an away match. Now let's put some in that Moldovan net! Cool

I have attended N.Ireland vs Iceland yesterday, 0-3 for a very strong Iceland (with Arason in goal, we all remember that one hey Smile ) although it has to be said that the NI defense was extremely weak and the offside trap was a disaster. I had a nice chat with the Icelandic fans, very nice and friendly people. Hopefully they can surprise Denmark on Wednesday.

But most important: may Norway continue their winning path and beat Moldova on Wednesday!

Thought? Just like in Norwegian and German, the conjugation is irregular.

That's true 1917, unless the word is deliberatly misspelled, in order to produce a mild humorous effect; in which case the word is spelled in any such way the writer deems fitting, i.e. "thunk" in this particular case.

Of course, said writer may have been mistaken in presuming the target audience was indeed equipped with the necessary humour to understand the joke.

I'd love to see Iceland put the Danes in their place, as a matter of fact. The Danish are a lovely people, but when it comes to football they have this big brother attitude towards Norway that pisses me off.

Probably won't happen though. Denmark is probably way too strong, like their last friendly against Portugal.
