Players leaving: Status
By Håvard Lindheim, 5 Januar 2005, 10:13
Rosenborg's first team squad has already decreased with two players after the 2004 season ended. During the following weeks, another four might go.
Odd Inge Olsen and Lars Blixt did not get their contracts extended, and officially left RBK as the new year started. Torjus Hansén and Christer George on the other hand became transfer listed before Christmas, and asked to find theirselves a new employer.
"Those two are still vacating in the Southeastern Norway, and won't join us for the Gran Canary trip the coming weekend. Instead, they will continue the search for a new club. If nothing new happens, they will return to Trondheim when we return from the South," Per Joar Hansen tells rbkweb.com.
At the moment Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, Swedish club GIF Sundsvall and Norwegian clubs Lillestrøm SK and IK Start are supposedly interested in George, while Odd Grenland might want their old player Torjus Hansén back.
"What is clear, is that we in Rosenborg do not want to block their further careers. Weither we will let them go for free or not, we will have to see. Both Torjus and Christer are good players that should be able to enter any squad in the Tippeliga," the Rosenborg coach thinks.
In addition to these four, Alexander Tettey and Christian Sæther Moen might soon leave Lerkendal - as loans. A season in cooperating club Skeid seems likely and would do both good. Tettey has already been to Oslo and played for Skeid in their friendly against Groruddalen before Christmas.
"No decision has been made, and there is no deadline for such a decision. Alex might be closest to a deal, as Christian still is recovering from a knee operation in November. Still, both will join us to Maspalomas," Perry says.
During the past few years, many a young Rosenborg player has been lent out, just to never return to Lerkendal. Could the same thing happen with these two?
"You never can tell, and I can promise nothing. But we keep a close eye on players we lend out, and many get a new chance at Rosenborg. Harald (Brattbakk) and Roar (Strand), who were loaned out to Bodø/Glimt and Molde, are two good examples."
"I think that the 1st Division is a great arena for an 18-year-old like Alexander. There he will get a taste of 'adult football' which constantly demands results and prestations," Hansen thinks.
As a part of the Skeid deal, two players come the other way as well: the talents Mohammed Abdellaoui (striker) and Birger Madsen (centrald defender) will join RBK to the La Manga training camp in late January.
"It was Skeid who picked these two players to go on trial with us. I have no knowledge about them myself," an honest Per Joar Hansen finishes.
