Brann - Rosenborg 2-1
By Håvard Lindheim, 19 Februar 2007, 14:17
Feb 14th: RBK wanted to revenge the two Royal League losses, but yet again failed against SK Brann Bergen.
Rosenborg started very slow yet again, and let the opponents take control over the match. RBK struggled to get their gameplay flowing, and actually didn't have one single shot before the break.
Brann didn't create much either, but halfway through the first half, Thorstein Helstad kicked in the leading goal after a corner. Shortly thereafter, Steffen Iversen had to leave the pitch with a broken nose after having received an elbow (belonging to team mate Alejandro Lago, it later occured) after another corner.
The second half of the game started in the worst possible way, as Bengt Sæternes could put in a simple goal alone with Lars Hirschfeld.
After the 2-0 goal, Brann withdrew, and RBK managed to get higher up in the field - and suddenly started regaining lost balls. The substitutes Marek Sapara and Alexander Tettey must be given much of the credit for this. Abdoul Traori was moved forward, to the left wing, which actually caused him to get more involved in the game.
Lead by substitute Yssouf Kone, Rosenborg started to create chances as well, and he got the honour of reducing with a direct shot on a Mikael Dorsin pass.
Still, a Storflor pass that entered the crossbar was the closest thing RBK came to an equalizer. Instead, Brann took over again in the final minutes of the match, creating a couple of dangerous chances.
PS! Daniel Braaten (groin), Christer Basma (leg) and Bjørn Tore Kvarme (foot) were all out injured.
PS 2! Alexander Lund Hansen acted as reserve goalkeeper for both teams, as Brann had two goalkeepers out.
