"All this came suddenly. I didn't expect this matter to come up before Christmas," Hirschfeld tells www.rosenborg.info.
He and his fianc are planning their wedding in January.
"I am going to get married shortly, and several decisions have to be taken. I have to talk to my family before deciding my future," the goalkeeper says.
Despite Hirschfeld claims he still not have made up his mind, he must have given Rosenborg some signs of a possible departure. Yesterday the club began negotiations with Rune Jarstein, the second choice keeper in the Norwegian national team.
"Lars has just one year left of his contract, so we must inquire whether we can sign other good goalkeepers. We can't end up with a situation where we have outgoing contracts and no replacements," Rosenborg director of sports Knut Torbjrn Eggen states.
Hirschfeld's contract lasts until 31 December 2008.
