Our new head coach deserves his own thread!
He has done many smart moves during Høgmo's sickness leave. Christer Basma explains:
"I feel that things have gotten clearer now, both in the training sessions and during matches. We have taken out the blackboard again, and made our way of playing more visualised. Some of us elders have had it all in our heads, but we have begun to draw things up again; which is good considering the number of new younger players."
With regards to this, it has been a strong focus on rehearsing and re-rehearsing through training sessions.
"The younger ones are not always good at observing and understanding the collective part of the game, and to see that they must cooperate in a certain way all the time. We have to think in the same way, everyone, and this is a good start," Basma thinks. |

Earlier, he did very well with the first division team Moss. There he took a team which was a minute a way from relegating the year before to third place the year after with virtually the same squad.
Despite his tremendous success and his new status as Norway's perhaps best coach, he seems to be very down to earth and sympathetic. He has also stated that he wishes to stay at RBK for ten years so things are looking brighter than ever for us. _________________ "Nordens, nei Nord-Europas beste lag" - Dorsin.

He deserves a chance after almost single handedly changing the fortunes of the team, i don't think RBK would have won under Hogmo.
Should they not have looked for someone with experience to help though? |

The only way to gain experience, is by being given a full chance. Tørum won 10 out of 12, drew 1, lost 1 (cup game). We have no reason at all not to have full confidence in him, these results are simply impressing. And indeed, he comes across as a very friendly person, he was almost screaming out of happiness when interviewed after the game vs Stavanger, almost like a fan on the stands _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

Today Knut Tørum finally signed his contract, and was officially promoted from assistant to main coach.

Almost "state of emergency" in Rosenborg these days. Head coach Knut Tørum considered backing out after the 1-4 defeat at Lillestrøm yesterday, but decided to stay. Tonight however members of the board want to sack him. To be continued...
The funny thing is that the situation was the same in front of the Chelsea match. The director of football, Knut Torbjørn Eggen, was very critical of Tørum's performances in a newspaper interview, and all the pundits did use big fonts "sacking" Tørum. |

May be the magic worked out, it can happen each good coach.
But for RBK at this time it is better to get another one.

Eggen? Drillo? Solbakken?
It might be difficult to get someone high profile, especially with the amount of re-building that has to be done. |

Yet, we can't afford to splash out 1.5 million euro's or so on Nilsson when we had the chance.
I hate to think if VIF or some other team gets bank rolled further, we'll fall further behind the other challengers. Brann will make a fortune from the UEFA Cup/Champions League next season too not to mention their current campaign.
Things look difficult at the moment, hopefully we can get something out of Valencia to cheer us up. |

VIF have a rich sponsor who saved them from death a few seasons ago. However, it is dangerous when you depend on one person. The moment that one person stops spending money, the club will drop fast. I see the same happening with other heavily-sponsored clubs like Gretna. The trick is to make the club attractive enough so that a new rich person takes over and keeps the money flow existing, Chelsea is a good example. I don't think VIF will easily get another rich president if the current one would stop spending.
I think Brann are more realistic to be our challengers in the near future. They don't financially rely on one person and have a solid base to further build their team and climb to the top. Of course our rather disappointing season does not mean we are no top team anymore, I think early next year people will still consider RBK one of the candidates for the championship.
As for the coach: winning the league is nice but it is no disaster to not win it for just a year. I would give Tørum a bit more credit and see what happens next season. If he would bring the championship back to Trondheim then nobody will still talk about that one bad season ... _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

Latest rumour: Nils Arne Eggen is going to take over the team until next summer when Trond Sollied has ended his contract period with Gent.
BTW: Rosenborg is the only club who has not received money from investors in the Tippeliga. _________________ - Jeg var i Molde ett år, og var så uheldig - eller heldig - at vi rykket ned, flirer Strand. |

Stabæk has Mr. Stabæk himself, Ingebrigt Sten Jensen. It's not to long ago he spent....I think it was 3 millions out of his own pockets to save them. _________________ "Itj roit dåkk så langt ut på jorde at dåkk itj sjer traktor'n eingang!"

To be fair, 3 m Nkr is just about peanuts even in Norwegian football these days. If all they needed was a mere 3m to stay afloat, they can't have been in dire straits to begin with. Stabekk is not my cup of tea, but they deserve credit for the way they achieved considerable success on a shoestring budget. |

Tørum had been noticeably isolated by management in recent weeks and had seemed unsure of his future even on Wednesday night, after leading Rosenborg to one of its best results in Europe.
